EARTHQUAKE
EARTHQUAKE
Good afternoon,
I wanted to send you some information regarding the store closure etc.
Firstly I would like to congratulate and thank all the people, helpers and workers that have been part of the clean up and helping us be all a little safer. The speed at which the crews started clean up and roping areas off was incredible. We all have to take a minute to thank these people. It was super fast and extraordinary.
I have felt a real sense of community over the last day. I just hope the weather holds out for the people that are on the front line.
Ok, so about the store. I arrived at the store yesterday morning at 8am. I honestly thought it was going to be rubble. Country Theme over the road was in pieces. I had a quick and fearful look around. One frame had been damaged, lights were on the floor, lots of dust and stock on the floor, there was remarkably very little damage at all. I left, drove and got water (like everyone else) and returned at 9am to find that the street had been blocked off completely and I was told that the building has been closed off due to significant cracks on both sides of the building.
As of 3pm Sunday, we have been told that we will NOT be allowed into work on Monday and the building will be assessed in due course. I presume on Monday I will be told what the outcome will be. It is a very real possibility that we will have to move. It’s actually hard to write that, as the iconic site has been part of our success and life for nearly 10 years!
Thank you for the countless texts, phone calls, emails and tweets. We will have plenty of hands if we do in fact need to move. I have wanted for 3 years to have a POP UP store (super hip and cool in USA) and this might be what we end up doing. At this stage we, like you, have no real idea what’s going on. So I’ll send a fresh email out tomorrow to keep you informed.
To those of you with bikes in there to be collected, I assure you we will do everything we can to at least grab your bike out of the store if we get a chance. i will contact you as soon as we can get in there. In the mean time, follow us on twitter and check the website for updates.
Wish us luck!
Scotty
