Emails of encouragement
Hi Scott, Aidan, Jess, everyone in the Scotty Brown team,
Shit, when you sent me that picture on Saturday morning I didn't event realise is was actually a picture of your shop front! After reading your website I can see. It looks like you got hit pretty hard. I hope it is worse than it looks?
You have to get set up again!! 9 times out of 10 for the past 10 years (for ever) my first stop when I come down to Christchurch is Scotty Browns! As soon as I get off the motorway I can't wait - it makes me smile. It is a really cool feeling to walk through those doors, take a few deep breaths and look around at some of the nicest stuff you can ever see. It's a great feeling, hard to explain. It is strange to feel such emotion and attachment to a shop but it's a place that expresses your passion and enhances other peoples passion. You created an atmosphere that you can taste and smell and still feel after you walk out - often without spending a dollar, but almost always owing more!!
You have certainly been a huge part of the lives of a lot of bike riders. A huge support to me, not just with the best gear but with encouragement and inspiration. On June 6th 2004 I woke up in Holland and checked the internet to see that I was selected for the Athens Olympic team. That morning I phoned family and then dialled 0064 3 366 3773! Keep it going! More people need to experience this!
Let me know if there is anything I can do.
Rob.
If you had just left me on the door then I could have at least gone down with the ship!

Just wanted to add a message of support to you guys. I have been into the
shop a bit and have always found the staff fantastic to deal with - friendly
and genuine which is not an easy combination. If my experience of business is
anything to go by then you should be assured that your customers will stand
by you. One small gesture I experienced was when you gave my children a drink
bottle each and then when I tried to pay for them or even another two which I
got you wouldn't let me. Not great for the till but great for goodwill with
your customers. My 4 year old daughter was so impressed she doesn't want to
go to Orana Park for a treat anymore she wants to " see that nice man in the
bike shop who gave me a drink bottle". Its obviously a bad time for you all
but keep your heads up I am sure you will be back bigger and better than
ever. Alistair Sim

Thanks for the updates , came down today to lend a hand if needed , but youre out for a short while.
As a builder , or in any other way , if i can do anything to help you only have to ask.
Hope you guys are able to get a speedy resolution and less stress.
Remember even Merckx had the odd bad day.

Hope the shop is ok, but more importantly that you're all ok. It's not
bricks and mortar that makes SB's so cool, it's u guys. A bit of
shingle on summit road this morning :) Paul Calder

Hey mate thanks for the email. Glad to hear you are ok.
I've been working all weekend. It is horrendous to see the damage and quite
emotional but everyone I have dealt with has been super cool.
People actually wave to the police instead of the finger! It's amazing the
feeling of solidarity.
The bosses organising everything have been fantastic to say the least. It's
all been run very smoothly.
I heard yesterday they are worried about the westpac centre on High/Cashel.
It is appently in danger of going over. That would be carnage.
Very sad to hear about the shop but looking on the bright side you and I
presume the others there are all ok. That's wot counts cos people are more
important than Pinarello's
Keep safe

You are doing a great job to keep your customers and mates up-to-date with
the shop. Thanks.
I've got the time and my van if there is any way I can help; moving stock
etc.
Pop-up shops are also super-hip in London. We had experience of "Look Ma No
Hands" and "Rapha" in Clerkenwell over the last month or so. Rapha have moved
to Manhatten too.
Cheers, Rod Lewis

I just landed back in Australia from Germany (I was at Eurobike) and learned about the earthquake you guys suffered over the weekend.
I hope everything is ok!! If you suffer any disruption in the business and need assistance from us at all, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Let me know how things are there.
Thanks
Frank Colnago
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, BLOODY GREAT FOR THE SPIRIT!
