CERVELO bicycle company saw the light of day in 1995 when 2 engineers, Phil White and Gerard Vroomen, decided to take the work they had been doing on developing faster time trial bikes to the open market.
This began when a top ranked Italian pro cyclist approached Gerard to deisgn the fastest possible time trial bike for him. With the help of his team they startes the bike design from scratch. The result was a pretty radical bike that pushed the rules in almost every area. The bike tested well for aerodynamics, handlings, stiffness, and comfort.
Naturally the team was very enthusiastic about the bike, as was everyone they showed it to. Everyone that is, except the team's bike sponsor who was not yet ready to part with tradition. Cervelo drew the conclusion that if pro riders both in the cycling and triathlon world liked the design but that the bike companies did not the only option was to start a company of their own.
Within two years Cervelo had won triathlons, time trials nationals in Germany and Canada, participated in the Triathlon & Cycling World's, and raced the Olympic time trial in Atlanta! Cervelo's mission was, and still is simple: "To help our customers win races". It is safe to say that Cervelo has accomplished this, with Team CSC ranked #1 in the world and the P3 being the most successful triatlon bike model in Ironman history (over 20 victories).
But the best thing about Cervelo is that you can walk into Scotty Browns, buy a Cervelo, and ride the very same frame and design that Basso and the CSC team race on - that's a very special gift that Cervelo gives us.
Test ride one today - you won't be disappointed!
![]() Victorious in roughly half of the ProTour TTs in which it has been entered, and equally successful in Ironman Triathlons, the P3 Carbon is the benchmark for the time trial market. - As with all Cervelo frames, the P3 Carbon is UCI legal |
![]() With the R3 range, Cervélo provides a proven platform that offers extremely low weight yet class-leading stiffness and durability. There isn't a better stiffness-to-weight ratio (STW) in the pro peloton than the R3. Yet even as the R3 was winning race after race and test after test, our engineers kept working on further improvements. Fabian Cancellara made full use of the R3 capabilities and the extra-ordinary compliance of its rear triangle at Paris-Roubaix. "I have never been that comfortable on the cobbles," Fabian confirmed to the VUM papers. "The frame; the wheels, everything was picobello." Great words of praise for the lightest frame in the ProTour from the most powerful man in the most punishing race.

The no-compromise Soloist Carbon - extremely aerodynamic, yet among the lightest frames, with excellent stiffness and compliance properties.
